National Breastfeeding Month
August is National Breastfeeding Month! National Breastfeeding Month was created by the United States Breastfeeding Committee in 2011.
The overall effort of National Breastfeeding Month is to advocate for breastfeeding, empower those who breastfeed, and inform others of the health benefits of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding can not only provide health benefits to the infant, but it can also provide health benefits to the mother as well. Some of the benefits for the infant include the following: decreasing the risk of asthma, type 1 diabetes, and more.
