A Letter to our Patients and Community
Here at UCR Health our top priority is the safety of our patients, employees, trainees, and our communities. Below are some of the latest updates about clinic appointments and other common concerns about getting care at UCR Health.
COVID-19 Symptoms
It is important to know that the vast majority of people who get the COVID-19 virus will not need to visit their doctor as most individuals will show no or very mild signs. The virus is not airborne and spreads through direct contact with someone with the virus – like a cough or a sneeze. The disease appears to be potentially more severe in the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. A complete fact sheet is available on the CDC website, Click here.
Please call us first at 1-844-827-8000 if you have a cough, fever, and have travelled internationally in the past 30 days or you believe you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. A nurse or provider phone visit will be scheduled immediately to address your medical concerns.
Clinic Visitors
Although our clinics remain open for your upcoming appointment(s), each patient will be allowed one visitor in the clinic waiting area to ensure the safety of our patients, employees and community at large. Children under 17 years without an appointment will not be allowed in clinic. Each person entering the clinic will be screened to include all patients and visitors. Anyone with a cough or temperature will be rescheduled for a phone or video visit with a nurse or provider.
Scheduled Appointments
We understand that some patients would prefer to stay home if possible – please give us a call at 1-844-827-8000 to discuss your concerns and possible alternative options to include a phone or video appointment with your provider or a nurse. Patients who have flu-like symptoms will be rescheduled for a phone or video visit with a nurse or provider. Additionally, all psychiatry patients will be offered the option of scheduling a video visits to take place from the comfort of their home. All you need for a video appointment is access to a computer or phone with a web camera.
COVID-19 Testing
We are prepared to have our patients tested for COVID-19 if necessary. We do not currently recommend testing people who are not showing symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, difficulty breathing). However, for those who are, we will make appropriate arrangements for testing.
Tips for Staying Healthy
