Provider Bio
Dr. Peter Ureste is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in geriatric psychiatry and a passionate advocate for underserved communities. He completed his residency in General Adult Psychiatry at the University of Southern California, followed by a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at UCSF. Currently serving as an Associate Clinical Professor at UCSF, Dr. Ureste is dedicated to enhancing medical education through anti-oppressive teaching practices and trauma-informed care. His clinical and research interests include LGBTQ+ mental health, Latinx health disparities, and cognitive health in older adults. Dr. Ureste’s work reflects his commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in psychiatry.
Personal Highlights
- Why did you go into medicine? To support and serve people, especially minoritized patients and learners.
- What are the unique skills you have as a physician? My specialized training is in severe mental illness, geriatric psychiatry, and medical education.
- Why did you choose to practice at UCR Health? I desired to return to the community that shaped me. UCR is serving the people of Inland Southern California.
- Outside of medicine, what do you enjoy doing? I enjoy hiking, learning, watching movies, and exercise.
