May is National High Blood Pressure Education Month! High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, affects almost half of the adult population in the U.S. According to a study done by the American Heart Association, one in three adults are unaware they have hypertension. High blood pressure can affect the health of critical organs including the heart, brain, kidneys, and eyes.
With hypertension impacting many people across the nation, National High Blood Pressure Education Month focuses on spreading knowledge and awareness on controlling high blood pressure and preventing strokes.
Common Symptoms of High Blood Pressure:
- Blurry or double vision.
- Lightheadedness/Fainting.
- Fatigue.
- Headache
- Difficulty breathing
