UCR Health welcomes Padmini Varadarajan, MD
Padmini Varadarajan, MD, FACC is a Cardiology Specialist at the UCR Health Multispecialty Center. She is a Professor of Medicine and an Academic Cardiologist, board-certified in Internal Medicine, cardiovascular diseases, Echocardiography, Adult Congenital Heart Diseases and Cardiac Computed Tomography. She is a cardiac imager with an expertise in structural heart imaging, cardiac MRI, valvular heart diseases, aortopathies, cardio-oncology, cardio-rheumatology, cardio-obstetrics, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, infiltrative heart diseases (such as amyloidosis, sarcoidosis) and adult congenital heart disease.
Dr. Varadarajan is the author of 58 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 75 abstracts, six books in Cardiology, and 21 book chapters. She functions as a mentor for 25 Internal Medicine Residents and Cardiology Residents Fellows in their research and career guidance over the last 12 years. She is Chair of the American College of Cardiology Diversity and Inclusion Committee for Southern California. She is also a Faculty mentor at UCR School of Medicine.
Her patient-treatment philosophy includes collaborative decision making in which both the patient and the prescriber are heard. She states that patients often feel a power difference between them and their physician, which is why collaborative decision making where both sides are heard and have a hand is the key to better patient management and health care delivery.
